Conclusions: Pathways to Climate Adaptation in the Adriatic Coastal Areas

This chapter reflects on the key insights resulting from the study and proposes a pathway forward for enhanced resilience and sustainability in the Adriatic coastal areas. Section 10.1 provides a comprehensive synthesis of the analyzed adaptation and mitigation strategies at European, national, and regional levels, highlighting their alignment, strengths, and weaknesses. Section 10.2 examines the alignment between observed and projected climate impacts with the regional strategies collected, identifying critical gaps and emphasizing the need for more localized and detailed climate projections. Section 10.3 presents the Climate Menu for Adriatic Regions toolkit, which comprises 160 technical sheets detailing best practices for adaptation. Finally, Sect. 10.4 outlines key recommendations for a future pathway, advocating for increased stakeholder engagement, robust climate projections, resource prioritization, interdisciplinary planning, cross-border collaboration, and innovation in adaptation practices.
