Background of Carbon Neutrality Science

Global climate change has triggered five major biological extinctions throughout the Earth's evolutionary history. Since the dawn of the industrial age, average atmospheric CO2 concentrations have soared to their highest levels in nearly a million years, accompanied by a significant temperature rise. This unprecedented change poses a severe threat to both the Earth's ecosystems and human civilization. Therefore, the goal of “carbon neutrality” has been proposed, and the realization of this goal requires the guidance of carbon neutrality theory. Carbon neutrality is a decarbonized energy revolution, an ecological science and technology revolution, and a green Industrial Revolution for all human beings, which will bring new changes to human social and economic development.
