Spatial Modeling of the Belitung Tarsier’s Preferred Habitat on the Belitung Island

This research aims to create a spatial model of the Belitung tarsier preference habitat. Tarsius Belitung (Cephalopachus bancanus saltator) is one of the tarsier species endemic to Belitung Island and has become the identity animal of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) categorizes the Belitung tarsier as endangered due to high habitat fragmentation caused by deforestation. Conservation efforts for the Belitung tarsier still need to be expanded, as few ecological studies have been conducted on this species. One aspect of the study that is important to know is related to the spatial model of the Belitung tarsier's preferred habitat. The results showed that the equation obtained for the Belitung tarsier preference habitat spatial model was Y = 0.513 + 0.113PC1-0.031PC2 with Nagelkerke (R2) of 0.704 (70.4%). Based on this equation, it is known that the most preferred habitat for tarsiers is only about 1058 ha (7.83%), the preferred habitat is about 1449 ha (10.73%), and the less preferred habitat is about 10,998 ha (81.44%) with a validation value of 86.96%. The study results are expected to be used as a basis for better conservation efforts, especially for tarsier population and habitat management.
