Approaches to the Study of South Asian Geopolitics

What are the major trends in South Asian discourse of border, territoriality, and geopolitics? How do various theoretical approaches analyze those trends?  This chapter addresses these questions by looking at the trends in traditional and non-traditional security issues and the way concerns over national borders and territoriality are shaped by global and regional security environments. The chapter contributes to the existing literature by exploring theoretical diversity beyond the statist discourse. It also stresses the need for bridging the gaps between theories and practices of South Asian borders and geopolitics.
