Energy Geopolitics in South Asia: Bangladesh’s Role as a Central Energy Enclave

摘要

This chapter takes a statist position to analyse the energy cooperation scenario in South Asia from a conventional geopolitical perspective. It focuses on Bangladesh’s energy cooperation with its regional and extra-regional neighbouring states. Findings suggest that South Asian countries have embarked on building energy enclaves with varying levels of cooperation with partners. Such cooperation is based on a realist conception of statist interest that depends not only on energy security but also on geopolitical interests.
