Loopholes in Security Implementation of Cloud and IoT Environment: Case Study of a Recent Security Incident
摘要
The Internet has been the greatest innovation of human species in twentieth century which completely revolutionized the entire human race and businesses around the world. Cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) are two pivotal technologies that have revolutionized the way we connect, process data, and interact with digital systems in the cyber realm. With the advantages they provide, the issues of security started getting noticed. Due to its disruptive nature, complicated design, and leveraged resources, cloud computing reasons a distinct and serious danger to all parties. IoT devices augmented the number of attack vectors in the information technology ecosystem and the complexities increased as IoT is a large, intricate architectural design comprised of many various sorts of devices. This study enumerates the different attack vectors in cloud computing and IoT and suggests the countermeasures. The experiments were conducted using the Nessus tool on a multinational company’s information technology architecture comprising cloud-deployed applications and IoT devices. The study concludes by stating the basic security hygiene practices any organization needs to adapt to comply with security guidelines.
