Bangladesh: A Rising Force in Textile and Garment Production

Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry and clothing production industry continue to maintain a significant position in the international market. Bangladesh's RMG (Ready-Made Garment) business has long catalyzed the nation's growth and sustainable development. It is Bangladesh's biggest export sector, and during the past 25 years, it has grown tremendously. It contributed 16% of GDP, over five million direct jobs, and over 81% of foreign exchange revenues. This article describes the growth trends in this industry, illuminating the region's remarkable accomplishments. This industry also uses sustainable technologies and practices, and government support and legislation are demonstrated. This industry also has to deal with issues relating to labor relations, workplace conditions, infrastructure problems in the supply chain, sustainability, environmental concerns, etc. All of these challenges are expertly illustrated in this article. Additionally, a few certifications obtained by the textile industry in Bangladesh are presented here.
