Introduction to the Asian Textile and Garment Industry
摘要
Digital technologies are being rapidly used by the Asian textile and garment industry to improve procedures related to production, design, and development. Interactive design and digital prototyping, electronic showrooms, online sales, data mining, predictive modelling, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are some of the major developments in this digital shift. While 3D design tools and virtual prototyping speed up product development and lessen the need for physical samples, electronic platforms and virtual showrooms are revolutionising marketing and customer involvement. By using data analytics and predictive modelling to optimise supply chain processes and inventory management, manufacturers can effectively respond to market trends. The utilisation of AI and ML in applications like as demand forecasting, automated quality control, and trend prediction can further improve operational efficiency and decision-making. Although there are still a lot of obstacles to overcome, like the high price of software and hardware purchases and the requirement for specific knowledge of digital design and printing. Notwithstanding these challenges, digital innovations are essential to preserving adaptability, flexibility, and competitiveness in the international fashion market. This chapter focuses on the overview of the Asian textile industry and its current state, challenges and opportunities.
