摘要

The prognosis for visual acuity and retaining the eyeball following severe mechanical ocular trauma resulting in no light perception (NLP) is typically poor. Nevertheless, with the evolution of the innovative treatment approach of exploratory vitreoretinal surgery and advancements in treatment technology, the outcomes for treating severe ocular trauma in NLP patients have substantially improved. Despite these advancements, there is still a lack of standardized criteria for determining, indicating, and timing vitrectomy in the management of NLP eyes. The main purpose of this chapter is to establish a standardized protocol for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients with NLP, aiming to provide a standardized and systematic treatment for NLP patients.
