Traumatic Macular Hole

A traumatic macular hole (TMH) occurs most often in young men after various types of injuries, vitrectomy, induction of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), and inner limiting membrane (ILM) peeling (with or without an ILM flap to cover the MH). The functional prognosis is often uncertain due to the accompanying trauma-induced retinal pathologies.
