摘要

Ocular trauma remains a leading cause of monocular visual loss and blindness and often affects young individuals and is especially the most common cause of such impairments in the pediatric group. The vision loss caused by ocular trauma not only affects a person’s quality of life but also imposes enormous socioeconomic and psychological impacts on patients and their families. By now, great advances have been attained in the management of ocular injuries under the guidance of retrospective reviews based on uniform categories and the outcome assessment system for ocular trauma. In order to make a better analysis of ocular trauma, including clinical research, it is of great importance to make a consensus on terminology classification, evaluation, and therapeutic interventions for ocular trauma, which are illustrated in this chapter.
