Ultrasound Guided Hyaluronic Acid Filler Injection: External Carotid Artery Territories
摘要
It is relatively difficult for the external carotid artery branch territories filler injection to cause ocular blindness. However, few cases have been reported to date. Reports mention injections at the nasolabial fold area where the facial artery is located, as well as at the temple area, where the superficial temporal artery is located. These arteries are known as large-diameter arteries in the face and are anastomosed to the ophthalmic artery branches. Thus, even if it is the external carotid artery branches, it is recommended to detect the structure by Doppler ultrasound before performing hyaluronic acid filler injection. Furthermore, the facial and superficial temporal arteries are easily detected by Doppler ultrasonography. In this chapter, we will discuss findings following Doppler ultrasonography and the corresponding guided injection techniques.
