Weaving the Future: Exploring Electromagnetic Shielding Textiles

This chapter focuses on the newly emerging threat to mankind, the Electromagnetic Radiation, abbreviated as EMR, and Electromagnetic Interference, abbreviated as EMI, that is instigated as a result of electric transmission, various electric and electronic appliances, which are day-to-day essentials for the present and unavoidable for the future as the world has become completely dependent on them. Here we focus on harnessing the textile potential toward prevention of the user and the environment from these radiations which are some times very harmful and often create degradation at a slower rate. This part deliberates the different types of materials that can shield EMR and the techniques and technology behind and further how these materials can be incorporated or turn out to be a wearable piece that can withstand and protect.
