Surgical Sutures: An Overview
摘要
Sutures tie blood vessels together and bind tissues together in surgical procedures. A variety of materials is used in the making of sutures, none of which is ideal. The surgeon chooses the most appropriate suture material for a specific application based on the circumstances. This chapter discusses the characteristics of the most commonly used polymeric sutures, both absorbable and nonabsorbable. In addition, recent developments in surgical sutures are discussed.
