Compact 3-DoF Anti-vibration Unit: 8-Bar Mechanism

By following the integration idea discussed in Chap. 7 with the X-design motifs, this chapter is to present a 8-bar X-mechanism with appropriate spring arrangement to achieve multi-direction passive vibration isolation. The design can be very compact in terms of the size of each linkage length, and each DoF of the system can be particularly tuned to achieve a special stiffness system of that direction. Importantly, the system can also be adjusted with motor in case that an automatic tuning system is expected.
