摘要

The X-structure or mechanism discussed in this book is generally defined as a class of scissor-like structures or linkage mechanisms (of solid, elastic, or flexible rods) which basically form an X-like shape of different layers (half-layer, 1-layer or n-layer) with basic elements taking X-shape, quadrilateral shape, V/L-shape (a half of the X-shape or quadrilateral), polygon shape, Z/S-shape, W-shape, or A-shape etc., featured by appropriately coupling with some other linear/nonlinear active/passive mechanical components, e.g., typically, stiffness and/or damping elements of different installment manners.
