Russia’s Eurasian Strategy: A Way Forward

摘要

China competes with Russia, the leading player in the post-Soviet arena, through regional alliances such as the EAEU. Russia wants to establish a coordinated strategy with other states and limit Chinese dominance in Central Asia. Political unrest has negatively impacted economic ties between Europe and Russia, although commerce between the EAEU and Asia has expanded dramatically. Russia now prioritises forging closer links with the West and expanding its trade and economic connections with Europe, marking a shift in the country's approach to its immediate neighbours. In 2014, the EAEU was formally founded.
