Concept of Security: An Introduction

Security is a crucial aspect of neorealism, as it infers the primary motivation of states. The international system is anarchic due to uncertainty, lack of trust, and competition among actors. Cooperation between states is essential for achieving security goals, and neoliberal institutionalism argues that international institutions are more helpful in achieving cooperation and stability. This chapter analyzes the threats posed by non-state actors with respect to the Eurasian Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and its comparisons with other organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the NATO PfP.
