Musculoskeletal Complications of Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a complex metabolic disorder characterised by chronic hyperglycemia, affecting millions worldwide. India has a high prevalence of diabetes, and the numbers are steadily increasing. While much attention has been devoted to the well-established vascular and neurological complications of diabetes, the impact of this metabolic condition on the musculoskeletal system has gained recognition in recent years. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the musculoskeletal complications associated with diabetes, encompassing type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
