摘要

Hypoglycemia is one of the serious consequences of diabetes and continues to be a source of concern. According to biochemical criteria, hypoglycemia is defined by a level of blood glucose less than 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L). In people with diabetes, a complicated interplay between hormones and metabolism results in hypoglycemia. Lowering the risk of hypoglycemia is critical as part of diabetes management. Before insulin or insulin secretagogues are prescribed, patients should be well informed about the risks. Hypoglycemia is associated with many possible risk factors. Whichever causes hypoglycemia, this is a severe medical condition that has to be treated immediately.
