Stability Analysis of Wind Tree for Renewable Power Generation

Among the two types of available wind turbines, vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) is preferred over horizontal axis wind turbine in general. Small leaf-shaped turbines which are basically a modification of maglev VAWT arranged in the form of a tree with each branch consisting of a certain number of leaves (i.e., turbines) would produce torque in very low speed wind making it possible to install such structures in the medium level heights thus making it a breakthrough for the urban area. Since, the solar power is unavailable during the night it is necessary to extract the wind power efficiently during that time in as many ways as possible. The point of innovation lies in the fact of developing small rotor and stator structures which usually consume a lot of space in conventional wind turbines. The wind tree and wind turbine modeling have been performed using CATIA V5 software tools. In general, VAWTs are chosen above horizontal axis wind turbines among the two types of accessible wind turbines. Small leaf-shaped turbines, which are essentially a modified form of the maglev VAWT and are arranged in the shape of a tree with each branch having a specific number of leaves (i.e., turbines), would produce torque in very low speed wind, allowing for the installation of such structures at medium level heights and thus representing a breakthrough for the urban area. Since solar energy is not accessible at night, it is essential to use wind energy as effectively as possible at that period.
