Oppositional Artificial Hummingbird Algorithm Based Fault Location Optimisation for Transmission Line

Protection of transmission line is very much essential for impeccable and efficient performance of network of power structure. The majority of network faults for the stated structure occur in transmission lines. A new oppositional algorithm inspired by the biological process of flight skills of hummingbird, known as Oppositional artificial hummingbird algorithm (OAHA) is recommended in this paper to appraise point of fault occurrence in transmission wire. The suggested algorithm has been checked using the simulink model in MATLAB for a 400 kV, 300 km transmission line. Statistics of signals of voltages and currents are taken from duo ends of the overhead transmitting wire. The propounded algorithm has been applied to various kinds of asymmetrical faults. The result obtained shows that this algorithm yields better result compared to other methods.
