An Accurate Mathematical Modeling of a DFIG Based Tidal Farm

摘要

Different renewable energy sources are used nowadays for clean power generation but tidal energy harvesting is not so popular as well it is bit complicated. The intermittent tidal current and underwater power generating mechanism are the main hurdles in tidal power plant. To ease with this problem an accurate mathematical modeling of tidal stream turbines has been formulated over here with doubly fed induction generator. Choice of induction generator is to cater the intermittent tidal current value and have a constant power output. In the analytical study and comparative analysis, the proposed model has been tested and compared with real time HOMER software model. Also a permanent magnet synchronous generator based tidal power plant has been used for comparison purpose. The study shows impressive result where the proposed model is accurate and suitable for practical application of designing a tidal power plant.
