An Analysis of Emissions Along with Performance for Diesel Engines Powered by Different Alternative Fuels
摘要
Content of fossil fuels in earth are available for only a short span of time which has caused a great concern among the researchers to look for some alternative fuels which may be used in transportation purpose. Researchers all across the world have studied about numerous new fuels which can replace conventional petroleum fuels and are eco-friendly in nature. For the analysis purpose, different dual fuel engines which use diesel as one of the fuels has been selected for current research. Current research paper also focuses on the comprehensive review of the current situation as far as the usage and application of alternative fuels (Alcohols, Ethers, Oxygenated Fuels) is concerned. Reviews abound that show enhanced emissions and performance from dual fuel engines powered by n-butanol and biogas. The best geometry configuration for Highly Performing Fuel (HPF) is discovered to have a toroidal re-entrant chamber geometry, which results in better performance as well as combustion features as well as lower exhaust emissions. Because pentanol (20% v/v) increases the oxygen level of resultant ternary mix and improves efficiency of combustion, Jatropha-Diesel mixtures (D60J20P20) have reduced NOx, CO, and opaqueness of smoke by 27.6%, 41.76% and 32.4%, correspondingly. All-biodiesel B20 blends have demonstrated extremely similar Brake Thermal Effectiveness (BTE) values at all loadings. Response surface methodology is an appropriate technique for optimizing CRDI (common rail direct injection) diesel engines. This research includes different types of liquid and gaseous fuels along with blends of numerous alternative fuels.
