Recent Trends in EEG-Based Epilepsy Detection and Classification: A Comprehensive Review
摘要
Epilepsy is a prevalent global health issue, affecting an estimated 50 million individuals worldwide. It's important to note that experiencing a single seizure does not necessarily indicate epilepsy, as nearly 10% of people may have a seizure at some point in their lives. Additionally, seizures can occur in various other central nervous system disorders besides epilepsy, either temporarily or as a coexisting condition. Consequently, the impact of seizures and epilepsy extends far and can be easily underestimated. It is crucial to highlight the significance of keeping abreast of emerging trends in the management of epilepsy, underscoring the potential for enhanced therapeutic options in the future. Promising avenues for future research include exploring combinations of therapies, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and utilizing non-invasive optogenetics techniques, all of which hold promise for delivering personalized and effective treatment for epilepsy.
