摘要

The government spends lakhs of money every year to correct the roads condition. The condition of roads depends on many factors among which this paper discusses the environmental and vehicular traffic impact on the roads. After identifying the parameters affecting health of the road, in-road sensors are installed on the asphalt pavements. These sensors can accurately collect and transmit data from the environment in real time for analysis, which will give insightful information about the health of the road. The data mentioned above is monitored by an IoT sensor node setup and sent to a server wirelessly. The IoT-based road health monitoring system proposed in this paper is embedded in the road itself for accurate measurement of parameters. The data collected corresponding to the factors affecting road health is made more robust with the seamless integration of sensor technology in the road infrastructure, resulting in a more accurate estimation of the amount of asphalt deterioration. The collected data is then processed and analyzed using a threshold-based approach using Blynk IoT and ESP8266 microcontroller to improve the health of roads.
