Closed Loop Control of Bidirectional Dual Switch DC–DC Converter

摘要

In present-day power system flow of power has changed to the conventional one direction to dual direction due to increased penetration of renewable resources for power generation (RRPG). DC-converters play vital part in regulating the flow of power in bidirection. The RRPG has different capacities as well as. Hence a converter which can operate at various ratings is the need of the time. Its utility is increasing day by day, hence their precision to be. In this work a bidirectional dual switch DC-converter is presented with battery charging and discharging functions. The converter designed can perform simultaneous buck-boost operation in order to charge the batteries connected in either side of the converter. The dual switches used are controlled via gate pulses which are generated using voltage controller. A voltage controller is used to compare the voltages of source and load side and control is generated using conventional PID controller. The advantage of the converter is it uses minimum switches, i.e. only two and simultaneous buck-boost operation can be performed for the various range of voltages. The proposed converter can operate at very low voltage of 25 V to high range of 8 kV. Though results presented have shown variation of voltages from 25 V–200 V, but higher ranges can also be achieved with same component combinations.
