A Case Study on the Performance Analysis of 300 kWp Grid-Integrated PV Power Plant in the Indian Climate

In the following research work, the on-site performance analysis of the 300 kWp grid-integrated rooftop solar PV plant installed at the five (5) buildings of I.K.G.P.T.U, Kapurthala District, Punjab, was studied and observed for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022. It injected 922,270 kWh of useful active power into the grid during the monitoring 3 years, averaging 307,423.33 kWh per year. The highest energy is generating in the months of March, April, May and September. In addition, it observed that in the months of January and December, useful energy produced is minimum. The monthly generation ranges from 38,416 kWh in September 2020 to 10,196 kWh in January 2022. The 3-year average PR, CUF, and system efficiency are found to be 77.5%, 11.7%, and 13.12%, respectively. The average final yield measure during the 3-year monitoring period is 2.81 h/day. The monthly final yield over the monitoring years varies from 129 kWh/kWp (September 2020) to 34.1 kWh/kWp (January 2022). The in-depth performance assessment of the power plant is being carried out to observe the actual on-field performance pertaining to the climatic conditions of Northern India, particular to that of Punjab. The observations concluded that the power plant performance is in line with the rest of the world and especially in line with most of the solar PV plants located in India.
