摘要

Grid modernization is a multidimensional alteration targeted at building a more agile, resilient, and sustainable energy-efficient ecosystem. It drives digitalization, decentralization, and decarbonization to address the increased energy demand and climate change issues. Large-scale distributed energy resources and renewable energy sources jeopardize system operator and aggregators to maintain system security and reliability. Flexibility competencies entail sustainable transition related to real-world implementation of enabling technologies of mobile energy storage from electric vehicles. Multidisciplinary approaches are required for techno-economic viability and integrated decision-making concerning environmental, social, and regulatory aspects. Market restructuring could enhance power system stability, competence, and prosumers’ gain. This paper reviews digital twin technology applications via producing virtual imitations of physical assets and practices to achieve sustainable development goals. Digital twin technology can facilitate pragmatic monitoring, predictive competences, and data-driven analysis and optimization. Digital twin-integrated smart grid can “detect, react, and pro-act” to variation in energy consumption pattern and handle several challenges guaranteeing well-timed network operations using cutting-edge technologies.
