Power Blackout in India: Securing Grid from Cyber Threats

摘要

After the 2012 India blackout, significant steps have been taken in the continuous development of India's power grid. The adoption of advanced technology and artificial intelligence has undoubtedly boosted progress, and our grid has become the smart grid but it has also opened doors to heightened cyber-attack threats that could potentially trigger a widespread blackout across the grid. In recent years, many power system blackout accidents have been reported around the world which was caused by cyber threats. Therefore, it becomes important to secure our grid or smart grid from the cyber-attack. In this paper the blackouts of India studies and revealing the root causes and the significant impact they had on India. Further review on the blackout of worlds due to cyber-attack and the severity of cyber threats is discussing with the help of the case study of the cyber-physical attack of the 2019 Blackout in Venezuela. This paper proposed a security strategy to prevent the smart grid from cyber-attacks, the artificial intelligence is used and puts an unwavering focus on cybersecurity strategies to safeguard the power grid against potential cyber threats.
