Carbon Nanotube-Polymer Nanocomposites for Battery Applications
摘要
Herein, we explore the use of carbon nanotube-based polymer nanocomposite from an energy storage point of view, especially in battery applications. The growing demand for high energy and power for domestic as well as industrial purposes as a result of rising globalization forces us to innovate, develop, and adapt novel technologies. The battery is one such ubiquitous device explored extensively for energy and power to run several appliances such as electronic devices, electric vehicles, communication, automobiles, and defense applications. Carbon nanotube-reinforced polymer nanocomposite is found to be an excellent electrode material for battery applications. It improves the battery’s performance by imparting its characteristic properties, like high conductivity, via a synergetic effect. This chapter discusses the characteristic features of carbon nanotubes and their polymer nanocomposites as cathode and anode for battery applications. Besides these, the challenges associated with carbon nanotube-polymer nanocomposites and their future prospect by overcoming their limitations are also presented in depth.
