Synthesis Techniques of Carbon Nanotubes and Their Polymer Composites

摘要

The science of nanoparticles has blossomed in a huge way. Therefore, the importance of nanotechnology has increased to a large extent due to its miniaturization in various fields such as computing, biomedical, sensors, and other applications. Carbon nanotubes, one of the allotropes of carbon, are an example of such material, which has opened up a new class of materials and technology. It has been of great interest due to its eye-catching properties like electronic, mechanical, thermal, optical, and chemical resistance. It has opened its future application in various fields, such as electromagnetic interference shielding, sensors, sports, and home appliances. Polymer nanocomposite is one such type of material where carbon nanotubes are used as reinforcement fillers, which can, in turn, be useful for high-performance applications, e.g., EMI shielding and mechanical and electronic applications. In the present chapter, we will discuss carbon nanotubes’ synthesis techniques and their polymer nanocomposites, followed by some important properties.
