摘要

Secure storage of voluminous clinical records has posed several challenges, with digital records gaining pace accompanied by privacy concerns. Handwritten clinical records require digitization without loss of crucial data. The digitization of records has been done meticulously to reduce the noise generated, in turn eradicating wrong medication using OCR models. These challenges were overcome using the following key technologies—NLP, OCR, and blockchain, that were easily available, easy to setup, and economically feasible. The novel methods of adopting loose coupling, APIs, and comments for validation have paved a firm step toward achieving the solution aiding patients, medical professionals in their daily activities, and better transparency. Various categories of summarizers and OCRs were explored, implemented, and contrasted to obtain the best results. The Summarizer REST API responds to the requests with the summaries under 185 ms with a ROUGE score of at least 71%, when a request is received with the unsummarized clinical record. Similarly, the OCR API swiftly responds back under 830 ms with the digitized text from the handwritten records. The utilization of blockchain to validate, secure, and store the digitized, summarized clinical records using comments, smart contracts, and swift transactions has enabled quick access. The orchestration of these crucial technologies has drastically reduced the access time, improved transparency, and analysis of records during the Golden Hour for a patient. It aids the quality care provided to patients, during the crucial time. Incorporating such concerns, the study has been planned with caution and addressed such issues with innovative approaches.
