In this poetic response written in February 2024, Yamaji poet Charmaine Papertalk Green reflects on the contrasts in settler colonial Australia’s memorialscape, the toppling of Cook statues by activists in Naarm (Melbourne), the blindness of settlers and the ongoing invisibility and absence of memorials to Yamaji on their Country in Geraldton, Western Australia.
