The Violence of Denial: Genevieve Grieves in Conversation with Tony Birch
摘要
Concluding Part I of this volume is the final of three edited transcripts from the public talks program that took place during The Violence of Denial, an exhibition curated by Worimi researcher, curator, artist and filmmaker, Genevieve Grieves at Arts House for Yirramboi First Nations arts festival, Naarm (Melbourne) in 2017. In this third talk from the series, Genevieve Grieves in conversation with Koori writer, academic and historian Tony Birch, considers the impact of the works in the exhibition, the absence of memorials to First Peoples, and the means by which First Nations creatives resist the colonial psychosis of denial to produce recognition of Australia’s foundation in violence.
