Properties of Fresh Alkali Activated Ferrous Metallurgy Slags
摘要
Alkali activated ferrous metallurgy slag (AAS) is among the most frequently investigated AAMs. Various types of ferrous slags, including blast furnace slag (BFS), basic oxygen furnace slag (BOFS), and electric arc furnace slag (EAFS), are discussed in this chapter, with emphasis on physical and chemical characteristics. Key factors influencing the performance of AAS, such as slag composition, alkali activator types, and curing conditions, are explored, along with the impact of superplasticizers (SPs) and retarders on the workability and setting times of AAS binders. The chapter also highlights the challenges associated with the rapid setting and reduced workability of AAS, suggesting that tailored chemical admixtures are essential for enhancing the performance of these materials in practical applications.
