Leaching Methodologies for Alkali Activated Materials Containing Industrial Wastes

  • Zengqing Sun

摘要

This chapter discusses the leaching behaviors of toxic components and testing methodologies for alkali-activated materials (AAMs) incorporating industrial wastes. Aarious leaching mechanisms are outlined, focusing on the release of anions, heavy metals, and major components. Influence of environmental factors like pH, liquid-to-solid ratios, and specific industrial scenarios on the mobility of these constituents are explored. Additionally, this chapter introduces several leaching assessment methods, such as the Leaching Environmental Assessment Framework (LEAF), which provides a flexible and comprehensive approach to evaluating contaminant release across various management scenarios. The chapter also emphasizes the importance of tailored testing to accurately assess the ecological impacts of utilizing industrial waste in construction materials, while also addressing the complexities of geochemical modeling and long-term durability assessments of AAMs.
