2D Materials’ Sensing Mechanisms

The amazing class of two-dimensional (2D) materials has evolved, offering new possibilities in a variety of domains, including sensing applications. In order to take advantage of their properties and advance sensing technologies, it is essential to comprehend the principles of sensing mechanisms designed particularly for 2D materials. The possibilities and difficulties of 2D materials for sensing applications are discussed with fundamental concepts and mechanisms that underlie such sensing. It underlines how these materials are great candidates for sensing technologies due to the high surface-to-volume ratio, adjustable electrical characteristics with superior mechanical flexibility. Their usage in biosensing for medical applications, chemical sensing for industrial processes, strain sensing for structural health monitoring, and gas sensing for environmental monitoring is well known in scientific communities.
