Sensing Activity of Green Synthesized Carbon Quantum Dots for the Detection of Heavy Metal Ions

Heavy metal ions pose a significant threat to human health and the environment due to their toxicity and persistence. The development of efficient and environmentally friendly sensors for their detection is of utmost importance. In this chapter, we explore the recent literature on the use of green-synthesized carbon quantum dots (CQDs) as sensing platforms for heavy metal ions. We discuss the synthesis methods, sensing mechanisms, and potential applications of these innovative materials, emphasizing their eco-friendly nature.
