Entrepreneur Social Responsibility and Ethics

  • Milton Rajaratne

摘要

The evolution of cultures through millenniums has rewarded individuals, clans, households, and organizations with laws, rules, responsibilities, values, morals, and ethics. Thus, both individuals and organizations are supposed to conduct themselves in a way acceptable to the society at large. Legal restrictions curtail or standardize behaviors; and breach of the laws is retributive according to the provisions of the law itself. But social responsibility, values, morals, and ethics are subjective and thus, they cannot set uniform behaviors in a society. Also, responsibilities, values, morals, and ethics are specific to persons and organizations and hence, personal and organizational behaviors are also different. Perhaps an organization promotes responsibilities and values within its administration, but the individuals may rather behave on their beliefs and judgments than on the organizational standards.
