摘要

Bakanae disease of rice, caused by Fusarium fujikuroi, is emerging as one of the most devastating diseases, resulting in significant yield losses across various rice-producing states in India. Reductions in crop production ranging from 15% to 25% have been documented in different states. This disease not only leads to quantitative losses but also affects the quality of crop production. The incidence of bakanae disease has been steadily increasing, particularly in basmati rice cultivars in north-western India, notably in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. This chapter focuses on the current status of Bakanae disease and its management strategies.
