CRISPR Technology: Plant Disease Management
摘要
Overcoming the drawbacks of numerous tools and techniques, CRISPR has made an immense place in the field of genome editing. It is versatile, conscientious, inexpensive, and easy to accomplish with no bioethical controversies. Due to the described reasons, CRISPR technology is also implicated in plant disease management to enhance the harvest potential for up-growing populations with constricted farming land and dynamic environmental conditions. The management strategy includes early detection of phytopathogens and the production of disease-resistant plant varieties that are eradicated by numerous diseases and bring up the food supply. This chapter also provides the kinds of approaches used to develop resistant varieties of plants with respect to the type of pathogen and disease involved, added with some examples.
