Initiatives of Australian Government
摘要
Australia has gained an international reputation for being progressive by amending its family law legislation when parents separate and contest custody of their child. Australia has three times amended its Family Law Act. The Australian Government has been proactive in reviewing the impacts of the legislative changes. The Australian Government also funds prevention programmes to safeguard children. As well, the Australian Government has adopted policy principles to safeguard children that are applicable to child protection systems that are implemented by State Governments. This chapter provides an overview of initiatives taken by the Australian Government to meet the best interests of children.
