Design, Fabrication and Testing of CMC High-Pressure Turbine Guide Vane

摘要

In this chapter, the design, fabrication and testing of CMC high-pressure single/twin turbine guide vanes were investigated. The service performance analysis of the turbine guide vane was at first analyzed. The SiC/SiC high-pressure turbine single/twin guide vanes were fabricated using the chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) method. Thermal shock experiments of SiC/SiC high-pressure turbine guide vanes were carried out on the third-generation turbine service environment simulation device. For single turbine guide vane, the thermal shock tests between 350 and 1350 °C in gas environment were conducted; and for twin turbine guide vane, cyclic thermal shock tests at different target temperatures (i.e., 1400, 1450, and 1480 °C) in gas environment were conducted to investigate the damage mechanisms and failure modes. During thermal shock tests, the surface temperature field of the SiC/SiC guide vane was analyzed. The damage characteristics of the single/twin turbine guide vane after experiencing different thermal shocks were discussed.
