Disclosing User Views: A Qualitative Investigation of Writing and Speaking Ability Development via Integration of Jenni AI and Jenni Speak

This study examines the use of AI-enhanced learning tools as a teaching media in higher education. This qualitative study explores how language learners might improve their writing and speaking abilities by using two cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools, Jenni AI and Jenni Speak. This investigation, which has its roots in the qualitative research paradigm, uses a phenomenological methodology to explore the real-life experiences of participants using these technologies in a language learning setting. Forty undergraduate students from Universitas Negeri Makassar enrolled as the subject of this study. They are enrolled in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. Through the use of participant observations, focus groups, and in-depth interviews, this study investigates the attitudes, perspectives, and difficulties encountered by a varied range of language learners at varying levels of proficiency. The study emphasizes the impact of learners’ interactions with Jenni AI and Jenni Speak on skill learning, motivation, and self-efficacy by using thematic analysis to uncover recurrent patterns and novel discoveries. The results of this study provide insight on the sociocultural and pedagogical factors that affect the uptake and efficacy of these tools and provide a more nuanced view of the learner’s perspective on the integrated use Jenni AI and Jenni Speak. The results of this study are anticipated to provide educators, curriculum developers, and designers with information regarding the possible advantages and difficulties of incorporating AI-driven technologies for language skill development. This will highlight the significance of learner-centered approaches in the context of technology-enhanced language education.
