The Judicial System in Modern China

In ancient China, the government did not have the idea of separation of powers, but there was a division of functions. The central judicial office was called dali (大理) in the Xia Dynasty, sikou (司寇) in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and tingwei (廷尉) in the Qin and Jin states, dali (大理) in the Qi state and tingli (廷理) in the Chu state during the Warring States Period.
