Lithium Plating/Stripping Reactions at Oxide Solid Electrolyte Interfaces

A fundamental understanding of Li plating and stripping at the interface of solid-state electrolytes (SEs) is essential to enable a rechargeable Li metal anode in solid-state batteries. This chapter overviews fundamental studies on Li metal anodes in solid-state batteries with an emphasis on the contribution of mechanical work to deform current collectors to the overpotential and the interplay between the Li nucleation process and the reductive decomposition of SEs. Additionally, it covers short-circuit phenomena in SEs.
