摘要

Electrets are materials that stably maintain a static charge and provide an electric field over a long period. The electric field generated by these materials can be used to generate power through vibration, which could be employed as a standalone power source for wireless sensor nodes required in an Internet of Everything (IoE) society. To date, polymers have constituted the primary focus in the development of electrets, however, ceramic-based electrets may be more appropriate for power-generation applications that require high durability and heat resistance. Hence, this chapter introduces the fabrication of electrets using “ion-conducting ceramics” and discusses their characteristics, with particular focus on our developing “oxy-hydroxy apatite” (OHA, Ca10(PO4)6[(OH)2-xOx/2]) electrets.
