摘要

River pollution has been the major concern around the world as rivers have served as the centre of development of civilisation. With increasing population, industrialisation and expansion of urban areas, rivers got degraded which has affected agriculture, human health and biodiversity adversely. Mula-Mutha River is an important river of Maharashtra which provides water to Pune city. Physicochemical analysis of various parameters helps in determining water quality of any water stream. In this study, sampling was carried out at 8 sampling sites from Khadakwasla to Daund to analyse different physicochemical parameters like pH, electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), temperature, turbidity, etc., to determine the water quality at these locations during 2018–20. In this paper it has been discussed how variation of season and locations determine the water quality and the factors which are influencing it. It has been found that water quality at most of the stations showed better quality during post-monsoon season compared to pre-monsoon season.
