Entomopathogenic fungi (EPFs) are a group of microorganisms that have acquired the ability to manage insects. The chapter examines the complex molecular mechanisms of infection, highlighting how these EPFs present multiple virulence determinants and mechanisms that work to infect insects. This chapter on the molecular mechanisms underlying entomopathogenesis enhances our understanding of the complex interactions among fungi and parasites and highlights the potential utility of this information in emphasizing the development of biocontrol solutions to effectively manage pests.
